333 Fredericton Air Cadet Squadron was chartered on the 16th of October 1943 and was originally formed as a high school squadron. In 1958, Lord Beaverbrook, then Chancellor of the University of New Brunswick, gave the squadron permission to carry his name. A native of N.B., Lord Beaverbrook had been Minister of Aircraft Production in Winston Churchill’s cabinet during World War II. The Squadron was also named as the permanent custodian of Lord Beaverbrook’s personal coat of arms designed by Rudyard Kipling in 1917.

The cadets of 333 RCAC Squadron will be participating in a weekend field training exercise (FTX) at Yoho Lake Scout Reserve located about 20 minutes along the Hanwell Road outside Fredericton on Yoho Lake. In order to complement training received on our regular training nights, it is mandatory that each cadet attend at least 1 of the 2 FTXs held by the squadron. It is recommended that they attend both, as each FTX will focus on different aspects of leadership, physical fitness and survival skills. This year’s Fall FTX planned for October 2014 had to be planned due to unforeseen circumstances.

This spring FTX will take place on 5-6-7 June 2015. Cadets are to arrive at Yoho Lake at 18h00 on Friday 5 June 2015 for kit inspection. Cadets are to be picked up at Yoho Lake at 11h00 on Sunday 7 June 2015. We would ask that you respect the timings to facilitate the success of our activity. Below is a cadet individual equipment checklist indicating the required kit. The items listed under mandatory must be brought with the cadet. Please ensure that cadets have appropriate outdoor clothing and footwearas we will be spending the majority of our time outdoors. Please advise us if your child is missing any of the mandatory equipment. If a cadet must be returned home for disciplinary or other reasons, it will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian to retrieve them. Also note that meals will be provided to the cadets. This event is free of charge, which is a reminder of how crucial it is for cadets to participate in the Squadron’s fundraising campaigns. Fundraising enables the cadets to benefit from activities like this spring FTX.
